Who are we?

We’re Kyle & Josh, two documentary filmmakers from Sydney.

We’ve always made documentaries. We love getting to know people and telling their story honestly, and that’s what got us into filmmaking in the first place.

Weddings were never part of the plan.

Honestly, if you’d asked us a few years ago, we would have said we’d never film one. It just never felt like us. But the more we thought about it, the more it made sense.

A wedding is the day an entire love story arrives in one room, and most of it goes untold. Very few films were telling that part of it, and we realised that’s exactly the kind of film we know how to make.

So we built Solara around the craft we know. We get to know you before the wedding: your history, your people, and the places that hold your story. By the time the day arrives, we’re not strangers with cameras but witnesses who understand what’s unfolding.

What comes out of it is less a highlight reel and more a portrait, something to return to on anniversaries, share with family, and one day hand down.

Mostly, we just try to be good company on one of the biggest day of your life.

Because each film asks this much of us, and deserves this much of us, we take on around ten couples each year.
